Rice concentrate — Nu‑FLOW® — is one of three non-active ingredients in BioQuench. It is made from rice hulls, it appears on the label as rice concentrate, and there is roughly 19 mg of it in each capsule.
What it does
BioQuench holds seven powdered botanical extracts in a single capsule. Powders of different densities and particle sizes do not naturally move at the same rate through a capsule filling machine — left alone they clump, bridge over the opening, and fill unevenly. A flow agent coats the particles so they stay separate and pour at a consistent rate.
That consistency is what makes the amounts printed on the label true of every capsule in the bottle rather than true on average.
The job most manufacturers give to silicon dioxide
Synthetic silicon dioxide (SiO₂) is the standard flow agent across the supplement industry. Nu‑FLOW replaces it one-for-one. We chose the rice version because it comes from a food, it labels as a food, and it is compatible with organic certification, which silicon dioxide is not.
Where it comes from
Nu‑FLOW is made by RIBUS, Inc. of St. Louis, Missouri from the hulls of rice — Oryza sativa — grown in the United States. The hull is the hard outer casing removed during milling. It is naturally high in silica, and RIBUS concentrates that silica by grinding and sifting the hull rather than by chemical extraction. The finished powder passes a 200‑mesh screen.

What is in it
By composition it is essentially rice fiber and the mineral ash the hull carries: roughly 70–79% carbohydrate, of which 65–79% is dietary fiber, 18–25% ash, 1–4% protein, under 2.5% fat and under 4% moisture. At 19 mg a capsule those amounts are nutritionally negligible, which is why it appears under other ingredients rather than in the supplement facts panel.
Reading the label
Depending on the manufacturer, this ingredient may be written as rice concentrate, rice hulls, rice hull concentrate or rice fiber. All four describe the same material. BioQuench declares it as rice concentrate.
